Growing Up in Xin Jiang is a long epic from Xinjiang writer Ju Li that recounts stories from southern Xinjiang. It is a key literary project supported by the Aksu Regional Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The novel depicts the story of the "second generation of Xinjiang" born in the oases of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in the 1960s-1970s growing up with their fathers' generation. It portrays the passionate era of two generations dedicating themselves to defending and developing the borders, and the arduous process of building a happy homeland.

Autorenportrait

Ju Li, member of the China Writers Association and vice president of the Xinjiang Writers Association, is an Aksu native who graduated from Xinjiang University. He currently works at Xinjiang People's Publishing House. His published works include the novels Tong Xin Xiong Di (Brothers of the Same Heart), Yuan Jiang Xiong Di (Aid Xinjiang Brothers), Zai Xinjiang Zhang Da (Growing Up in Xinjiang), Wo Yu Hu Yang De Yue Ding (My Agreement with Hu Yang), and Zhu Cun Xiong Di (Stationed Village Brothers). His co-written works Tong Xin Xiong Di (Brothers of the Same Heart) and Wo Yu Hu Yang De Yue Ding (My Agreement with Hu Yang) were adapted into 30-episode TV series. Juli's works focus on stories about Xinjiang and has earned the reputation as the "Balladeer of Southern Xinjiang."
