Faszinierende Bilder erwarten uns, wenn JAY über seine Reise nach Jindo, der drittgrößten Insel Südkoreas im Gelben Meer berichtet. Auch, wenn sich der Künstler meist auf Eindrücke konzentriert, die nicht allgemein bekannt sind, muss natürlich die Zwillingsbrücke erwähnt werden, die Jindo mit dem Festland verbindet. 1984 entstand hier zunächst Südkoreas einzige Doppelschrägkabel-Hängebrücke. 2005 wurde eine weitere Brücke gebaut, sodass daraus die heutige Zwillingsbrücke entstand. Traurige Berühmtheit erlangte Jindo im Jahr 2014. Die Fähre Sewol kenterte auf dem Weg nach Jeju-do in der Nähe der Insel Jindo und sank. Es waren 476 Menschen an Bord, von denen aber nur 172 lebend gerettet werden konnten. Unter den Toten waren auch 250 Schüler im Alter zwischen 15 und 18 Jahren. Unser Mitgefühl gilt den Hinterbliebenen, die hier ihre Liebsten verloren haben. Mögen sie in Frieden ruhen. We accompany JAY on his journey to Jindo. The island is on the southwestern tip of South Korea. It is connected to the mainland via the so-called twin bridge (two separate structures). In the months of March to June you can experience an extraordinary natural spectacle here. Tidal activity then creates a narrow strip of dry ground between Jindo and the smaller island of Modo, making it accessible on foot. However, this dryness of the sea floor only lasts about an hour. This event, also called the Moses Festival because of its similarity to the parting of the Red Sea, has a multi-day festival on Jindo, which is a major tourist attraction. Hundreds of thousands of visitors are seen here every year. But the photographer also shows us the hidden beauty of the island of Jindo with his pictures, away from the tourist highlights. His artistic shots are a real inspiration.
